My appreciation for Brazilian song originated in my identification with the delicacy with which these sensitive songs express the states of the soul of the people of Brazil. Lyrics and melodies reveal a thrilling universe that manifests the threads of which its History is woven. The inexhaustible rhythmical, melodic and poetical creativity of the Brazilian song never ceases to seduce me and continually inspires me to make it known.
This path starts out with the “modinhas” and “lundus” of the 18th and 19th century, leads to the Brazilian chamber song of the 20th century and continues up to our present days. Research done on music, literature and history produced the discovery of unpublished or rare authors and scores, many of which knew first recordings contributing to a deeper knowledge of our music.
